An Incan Quipu (or khipu) was an ancient recording device used by the Inca civilization for keeping records and communicating information. It consisted of a main cord from which several knotted strings of various lengths, colors, and thicknesses hung. The knots and their placement encoded numerical data, and possibly other information, such as census records, taxes, and inventory. Quipus were an essential tool for administration in the Inca Empire, especially since the Incas did not have a written language.
For us, the Quipus symbolizes effective communication with an attention to detail. It also connects us to our Peruvian/Incan roots, which we proudly display.
